At NextStar Energy, we recognize the urgency of climate change and are committed to doing our part in creating a low-carbon future. As a company powering the transition to sustainable mobility, we understand that our own operations must reflect the cleaner future we help others achieve. That’s why we have set a clear path to reach Net Zero greenhouse-gas emissions across our Scope 1 and Scope 2 operations by 2050.
Our Commitment
As part of our emissions management plan, NextStar Energy aims to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for scope 1 and scope 2 operations by 2050, by offsetting or reducing emissions from manufacturing sites, facilities, and purchased electricity.
What We’ve Achieved So Far
- Net Zero Target Set: We have formally committed to achieving zero emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 2050.
- Annual Participation Checklists: We have successfully completed our first Participation Checklist and will continue to do so each year to stay on track and accountable.
Our Next Steps
In the months and years ahead we will:
- Submit a Preliminary Net-Zero Plan to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
- Deliver a Comprehensive Net-Zero Plan to ECCC, outlining detailed strategies for emission reductions.
- Establish Interim Targets that set measurable emission-reduction goals as milestones on the road to 2050.
- Provide Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD Report) to maintain transparency and inform stakeholders about our climate- related risks and opportunities.
Looking Ahead
NextStar Energy commits to planning for emission offsets and reductions, with the goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 across Scopes 1 and 2. While specific interim reduction percentages are still being finalized, we remain committed to steady progress toward this long-term goal.
By committing to the Net Zero challenge, we’re reinforcing our core mission, delivering clean energy solutions that help create a more sustainable future.
